Dogwood Stable Racehorses Coloring Book

The Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and Museum along with local artist, Stephanie M. Dunatov, have published a coloring book featuring Dogwood Stable racehorses. The coloring book features some of Dogwood’s most iconic racehorses, such as Palace Malice, Summer Squall, Aikenite, Storm Song and many more.

Stephanie M. Dunatov’s artwork celebrates the role of the horse in our history, our imagination and our world. Dunatov has been featured in “Horses in Art” and “Art Calendar” magazines. Her work can be found in private collections all over the world.
“I am endlessly fascinated by horse stories. It has been an honor and a privilege to work on the Dogwood Stable Coloring Book, and help bring the stories of some of the amazing racehorses to a new generation of horse racing enthusiasts.”

Photographers from Aiken, Kentucky, New York, Massachusetts and Georgia donated the use of their photos to create the design of each page in the coloring book. Dogwood Stable, Adena Springs and the Tony Leonard Collection also donated the use of photos from their archives.

Ginny Southworth, well known Aiken photographer, donated the use of her iconic photo of Storm Song nuzzling Dogwood Stable President, Cot Campbell for one of the pages. “This moment is what I love to find when photographing animals with people who care about them. It is that instant of connection that says so much about their relationship.”

The coloring book may be picked up at the following locations
for a $10 donation to the Hall of Fame;

  • Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame (135 Dupree Place, Aiken, SC 29801)
  • H. Odell Weeks Center (1700 Whiskey Road, Aiken, SC 29803)
  • Folly in Downtown Aiken (122 Laurens St NW, Aiken, SC 29801)
  • City of Aiken Visitor Center (1406 Park Ave SE, Aiken, SC 29801)

One hundred percent of the donation will go to maintain current exhibits and to develop future displays.
